for $40 go get a electric shutoff valve and put in line with the in coming water to the rodi using a float switch that acts like a relay opening and closing contacts internally to break the hot wire to the electric shut off valve ! easy peasy

So normally I have my rodi into 5 gallon buckets, approx an hour to fill, today I forgot it was on and went out for a few hours, I'd say 15-20 gallons on the floor..Luckily it's basement.
I put mine on a hose timer, like the kind you would use for outdoor watering.

Nope never done any of those. ;)

The worst was turning on my RO/DI to flush, and forgetting about it till 3 days later. Pretty sure the membrane is well flushed now. lol

Old thread but this just happened, so...

My 32 gallon Brute has 1" PVC with ball valve near bottom to extract RODI (usually into 5 gallon Sparkletts jugs).

Started a batch of RODI a bit ago and didn't notice I had left the ball valve OPEN on the Brute ... caught it about an hour later so not too bad but,,, duh!!!

Did this too many times to remember so got a 55 gal drum. And installed simple pressure float valve the stops the flow. Best thing I ever did as I am extremely forgetful.

Yeah I left mine on last night too for a few hours and forgot while filling a 5g container... must've been 20 gallons on the newly remodeled wood plank kitchen floor. I've flooded 5 different houses a hundred times each over the last decade. Lol. I'm finally working on building a fish room with an automated storage system. Getting started now... hard to find a good deal on 50g plus water containers so who knows how many more gallons I'll flood the house with before this gets done.
