do you know the brand of this barrel? The original sales listing would be ideal!
Barring that, do you see a listed material of composition anywhere on it? — often denoted by an acronym!
— this usually occurs because RODI water is so “clean” that it had a tendency to absorb dissolved solids from any container it’s in which is willing to leech anything!
— my immediate thought would be that this container is not intended for potable water, and is thus leeching something into the RODI water stored within!

Interesting… I do know that the most commonly used mixing station tanks are HDPE, LLDPE, Or PP plastic…
Was this tank purchased used? Or, has it been used for anything besides RODI water prior?

How are you measuring tds from the rodi unit and the tank? Do you by chance have the tds meter that generally comes as part of the rodi package, like from brs, and then have a different tds meter that you test your tank water with?
If it’s the same tds meter testing both, then agree with uncommon sense that it must be some sort of leaching from your storage tank.

I was thinking the discrepancy could,be coming from two different tds meters. Although that would be way off than would have been expected.
Maybe next step is to drain it, fill with fresh rodi, test it immediately once full to compare source and storage are the same tds, and then let it sit and measure daily to see if you can track the increase without adding anything new to the mix.
Would be a pain I know, but only way I can think of to figure it out.

tbh… I don’t have a separate tds meter, just the one that was included as part of the BRS RODI kit. Now im wondering if I need to buy a handheld meter and test my storage tanks TDS.

You went soooooo cheap on your TDS meter, that you bought one without ATC (automatic temperature compensation). So that is one cause of the reading (but certainly not the only cause).

That sounds a lot like DI resin is getting washed out of the DI stage!
— if you remove the final DI stage from its housing, there should typically be a sponge, screen, or similar on the top of the resin cartridge to keep resin beads from washing away in the water… see if your cartridge is missing that!
