Rodi water sitting

Hello I want to get better with water changes and the thing that always holds me up is having RODI ready. Is it okay if I have a 32gallon brute trash can sitting with RODI water with a closed top in my basement? Or should it be a wave maker moving the water around until I’m ready to use it?

I have a 100 gallon and a pair of 55 gallon storage tanks that i rotate through on a regular basis. As long as the container is covered, you shouldn't have any issues at all.
Actually making RODI in larger batches helps the membrane last a bit longer. Frequent small batches have a tendency to shorten the life of all RODI materials...

Owow sounds perfect so I can fill a 32 gallon brute trash can with the lid and just let it sit until my weekly water changes ? I have a 40 gallon breeder so i do weekly 5 gallons but would like extra water just incase I want to do a emergency water change

Absolutely... I use mine to top off the ATO reservoirs and water changes. I'll typically make at minimum 30-60 gallons at a time, but i have a larger system(s).

I leave my RODI water sitting in a brute trash can covered for weeks with no noticeable issues. I also have a second trash can with freshly mixed saltwater that also sits for weeks. Both trash cans have lids and have no pumps or heaters.

Search around on here for some more sophisticated RODI storage and mixing stations people have setup.

Absolutely... I use mine to top off the ATO reservoirs and water changes. I'll typically make at minimum 30-60 gallons at a time, but i have a larger system(s).

Real answer is rarely, but i am rebooting this week. (See my updated build thread later this week with explanations)

In a 40 breeder, depending on your bio load, 5 gallons a week should be fine. If you don't have good skimming, AND a truckload of fish and corals in your little slice of the ocean, you should probably be doing more. But i will also tell you keep on keeping on if you are being successful.
Change, and big change being the worst, usually isn't great... Stability is key....

How old was that water you used to make the RODI? Millions of years maybe lol.....But ya its fine as long as its doesnt start getting higher tds as it sits which usally happens sooner or later

Yes. There is no reason to stir ro/di and it can be stored until you need it. I store mine for weeks or longer.

I will watch your build thread ! I love this hobby the only problem is I wish I got a bigger tank to start now I’m a year in and I want a 75
