Lighting: On this build I needed a lighting system that would work well on my tank yet powerful enough to cover the width & depth as the tank is 48” front to back & 30” deep. I consulted with Jason from Clear Fabrications & we decided on a 80/20 Aluminum extrusion for the lighting. This light rack slides far enough off where I have access to both of the large portholes so I can work on the tank or when I’m doing water changes. The lights I will be using are as follows.
Kessil: 4 AP-700 LED’s down the center
Reefbrite T-5’s Two 4ft dual fixtures on each side.

Actinic LED Strips
one 8ft fixture on each side
Bulbs: ATI Coral & Blue plus
The light Mounts for the Kessils were fabricated & turned on a lathe by Clear Fabrications. I couldn’t use the Kessil light hanging mounts as these would not work for this application.

These turned out very well and I couldn’t be more happy. I had four separate 20A GFCI outlets installed with these being independent of the home. On top of the light rack I had six outlets mounted to the lighting rack which in turn is wired to a junction box below and to the side of the tank. These lights will be run on a lighting schedule by my Apex when set up. You can also follow this tank build on my Instagram & you tube channel @ Rogueaquariums

Sump: This sump measures 60X42X20 and a drip tray which were both built by Clear Fabrications
I will be running a Royal exclusive bubble king 300 protein skimmer with two Red Dragon pumps. I’ll also be using one or possibly two Clarisea SK-5000 filter rollers to keep the water clean and clear along with a fabricated filter media tray which will help filter larger particulates.

Nice, yes you can definitely tell the difference in the water clarity.
Love the drip tray for some filter pads! I use a 200/100 stack combo in mine and sometimes through a 50 micron for polishing!

GOOD GOD MAN... how much did you spend on aluminum T channel stock? Looks SWEET, but that stuff is waaay pricey. no?

The 80/20 is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Its actually not that bad as far as price and yet it’s light weight & strong. I purchased the material from Teco technology in Ca. They were a big help in answering all of my questions in regard to putting this light rack together.

Hey how long did it take to cycle with the brightwell microbacter ? And how did you use it ? I'm currently cycling mine with it also.
