Thanks! I’ve neglected my build threadNice aquascape!
Sorry for being in attentive. What did you want to know about the drain?Following...would love to one day get an elos 200xl. I'm curious about the overflow and drain.
Sorry for being in attentive. What did you want to know about the drain?
First off I am not sure why anyone would need to restrict flow with a gate valve. If you balance the overflow rate with return rate there should not be an issue. I have going to each return a dedicated snapper dart gold hybrid. I need to keep overflow wide open but it keeps up. Not even that noisy. If I want silent I can back off on the overflow. When doing that I need to back off on the pumps with a ball valve. If you want dead silent plan on about 1750 gph from each return for a total of 3500 gph or about 14x turnover “silent”. No head pressure issues. You might have head pressure issues with a smaller pump but I don’t think so. Both overflow and return flow can be controlled with the dials built into the overflow. Thanks for trying to help me out.
I love the clean look of the elos, but I’m wary of the posts regarding it as a relatively noisy overflow that requires restricting it with a gate valve to run quietly. This restriction would seem to negate the safety features of the emergency drain.
So, how quiet is it? Did you need to make any modifications for it to run more quietly? My understanding is it is a tube within a tube, with the emergency drain in the center. With this design, how does the plumbing look under the tank? Are you encountering any trouble with head pressure running your returns back?
Just a few of my concerns with the elos system. If it’s working great for you, it would help me make my decisions.
Not a special order. It comes with 2 overflows.Thank you for the info. I’m assuming you had to custom the order to get 2 overflows? Great idea, I’ll probably do that too.
Thank you! It’s always nice to get compliments...wow. what a beautiful aquascape. I need a bigger tank.
