I've been thinking about setting up a separate ATO reservoir for my Waterbox since the sump only has a built-in 5gal capacity which I don't want to fill everyday (4x2 surface area with fairly aggressive surface agitation and no lid).

I started looking at what's commonly available but most just weren't really my style. Although it will stay hidden, I want it to match everything else I've got going on. I'm weird like that. My searches eventually led me to the Royal Exclusiv Dreambox...which is $600 for 19 gallons. Although it is a nice looking box that just seems absurd. I'm not a cheap guy by any stretch, I mean I just built a $26k motor for my '63 Ford Galaxie but one could arguably find the value in that.

Does anyone here have one of these units? Just wondering what the heck makes them so expensive. If it's volcano proof or something I may consider it as I hear Mt Rainier is overdue for blowing its top.

Yeah, I'm thinking you're right. I missed the one in the classifieds for half the price.

Oh well, perhaps I will put my CNC router to work and see if I can't make one half as nice for 20% of the cost.

All Royal Exclusiv stuff is heavy duty built out of PVC. I have seen them many times at Macna and they are way above any other sump in build quality Once you see one in person you see why they cost the amount they do.

Appreciate the input, reefwiser. I'll try to avoid finding one out in the wild in an effort to save myself $600. :)

No matter how nice it is, it is still a water container and I am pretty sure no museum will put it on display. So $600 is a no-no for me at least.
People always say this equipment is a piece of art and that equipment is a piece of art. I don’t get it... To me the real piece of art should be the display tank, not a water jug

I don’t have one but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t pay $600 for a water container. I think I’d have to get over my OCD about things matching. ;);Happy
Could a bought 2 like me lol

BRS had a lot of RE gear on clearance recently. Well worth it to those in the RE fandom.

I added the bubble king double cone 180. Also won $260 during the fan appreciation stream show and bought the dosing containers for $180 and also picked up my second 19gallon dream box during the RE clearance. Saved about $1500 off retail price.

Nice! Yeah the sale was incredible. I wish they had the RD3's but I either missed it or they had already sold their stock. I wanted to pick up a spare. Solid products I have to say. Well built. Great support I've had and I'm only a small user.

Yeah they did not have the Red Dragons in stock and don’t think they were on sale. Aperture is pushing their Ecotech and Neptune products and pushing other products out. They made the decision to stop cannibalizing they lights do they discontinued the Neptune Sky. Will be interesting if they continue selling Ecotech and Neptune return pumps

I have that same water tank and matching refugium. Only used for 4 months. Had I known (or saw) earlier you were looking for these I would have given them to you. And, I'm only about 4 hours from you. I've been trying to sell these for a bit and no one would even purchase them for $100 each. Now, they are just in the way.

Just an FYI, I spoke to Torsten Hess with Royal Exclusiv about 2 months ago or so and he informed me the RD3's are officially discontinued. They are still offering parts until they are gone. They are now pushing the RD5's. I have 3 of the RD3's and now I wish I had some backups.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look at the parts list as like you my preference is to have a spare.

The RD5 is not made in Germany or am I misunderstanding. Not sure if you asked that or know.

It is made in Germany by Royal Exclusiv. It's their newer/updated (or ECO) version of the RD series of pumps. I have the 130w FLOW version and it does work well. To me though it seems like a step backward as it's awkward/difficult to use as far as the controller, mounting solution and also comes with a third piece of hardware in which is an external Meanwell power supply.
