Royal Gamma ich?

Ya this theory sounds likely honestly. Cause he almost seems a little scratched up like he got in a “fight” I’ll keep monitoring him and hopefully it continues to improve.
Thank you for the help!
Sometimes less is better.
In 3 decades, if I tried to treat every thing I thought might be an issue, I’d rarely have fish in my tank.

Good luck. The RG is a super resilient fish, but usually doesn’t run from an agreesor.

There’s likely a ton of stuff fish can resolve themselves when in great stable waters and eating.

Cool, ya that’s why I was a little concerned because I thought RG’s are pretty tough. It seems to be doing better, eating good and acting normal. Just try an keep it fat and healthy and the water stable while I monitor it.
Thanks!

All fish came from the same vendor. Been feeding frozen mysis shrimp. Tank was cycled for 3 weeks with ocean water. I live in west palm beach and got clean clear water from the ocean. Tank parameters are nitrates 0-10ppm nitrites 0-1 ppm and ammonia 0. I only have test strips right now.
Good thing is he is eating today. Looks like less spots on his tail, but his tail is torn up today when it was fine last night.

I see a couple of salt like grains on the tail though. Usually, if it were sand, it would be more-so stuck on the fish's skin due to the mucus that can sometimes cause it to temporarily stick. Fins however, not really the case. Additionally, ich falls off but more cysts are produced. Once those hatch, the free-swimming stage of ich can exponentially multiple in the next phase. Often times, reefers miss this first phase of ich because there is so few of them but the second phase is usually noticed. That said, continue to monitor your fish and be on the lookout for more specs. If it is ich, and you want it out of the tank, you will have to remove all fish for a good chunk of time. 72-76 days is the industry conservative treatment.
