Royal gramma missing

Hello,

I just bought a tiny royal gramma about an inch long last Wednesday who had been quarantined in the lfs. He was eating well. I added him to my 25 gallon tank which has been running for almost 2 years. I saw a glimpse of him on Thursday and thats the last time I saw him. I was rescaping the tank today so I took out my rocks and the gramma was no where to be found.
Stocklist:
2 x clowns
1 x blackcap basslet
1 × yellow assessor
1 × tiny mandarin
1 × leopard wraase (moving to bigger tank soon)
None of the fish are aggressive all keep to themselves. During introducing no one cared about the gramma.

Whats the chances his dead? He is probably the tiniest gramma I've seen. Not sure if he was still in the rocks when I took the rocks out.

When I got mine about 2 years ago, he was the smallest one I'd ever seen. About 1" and he went into the rockwork of my QT Tank and would appear sporadically. Today he is about 2'5" but still likes to hide inside the rockwork. If I had to guess that's where yours is but he could have passed, but don't be surprised if he reappears. Try some Frozen Brine or Mysis. Grammas are picky and don't seem to prefer pellets.

Have you looked in your overflow? My gramma was in my overflow for 2 months before I found him there. I thought he was dead so I bought another one. Now I have two!

Mine likes to hide all day, only comes out for feeding.
Fish can hide in holes in the rocks, did you inspect each rock when you removed it? It is a possibility that it was hiding, and you might have blocked his exit when replacing the rocks.

I moved my royal gramma from QT to display on Sunday morning. She found a nice little cave.

By Sunday night she was nowhere to be found and I started getting worried. I have a lid. I check every nook and cranny of the rock and there was just no place she could be. I checked the overflow.

Monday morning, nowhere to be found.

Monday after work, nowhere to be found. I added some bbs to hopefully entice her out but nothing. I came back to the tank an hour later and she was out swimming happily.

This morning ( Tuesday), nowhere to be found.

The lesson for me is just be patient. Also, royal gramma are the true hide and seek world champs.

I would be concerned about the blackcap and its tolerance for the gramma. Those two in a 25g might not be compatible
