Just brought home a royal gramma. He sank and lodged himself into a rock. I turned off the lights and let him be for a couple hours. When I came to check on it my hermit crabs were eating his tail. He is still there. Any chance he will make it.

That doesn't sound like a promising start...
My first question comes from the quote "He sank and lodged himself in a rock"
That doesn't sound like normal behavior for any fish let alone a new addition..
Second thought is, "hermits eating his tail" also doesn't instill confidence... A healthy fish, new to the tank or not, wouldn't allow this behavior .
I have many questions, and none of the above instills me with confidence...

Go fishing. I’ll say if you can grab the body, well, grab it.

Welcome to r2r! It doesn't look hopeful for that little guy unfortunately...
