Hey Johnny,

I don’t think that’s the RRC Jawdropper. It’s got the wrong growth form.

Here’s my RRC Jawdropper under full spectrum and blues for comparison. You may want to talk to TCK if he sent you the correct frag.

Your tank chemistry wouldn’t cause the coralites to form like that. It def is not the jaw dropper. Did you ask Dan to send you a pic of his mother colony?

Man that looks like a totally different acro for sure, colors look similar and it looks great but hard to believe it came from the same coral. Not saying it didn’t but the coralites normally don’t change from tank to tank all that much.
I would give it some time to shoot branches and hope they look right once stretching out.

We got the original frag in 2017. Here is a photo of the growout at ARC as it stands today. We are quite perplexed by the growth form shown by the OP. His piece came from the base of one of these growouts, which has direct lineage to RRC. Attached below our shot are some of the original pics from RRC

I got fake corals from tck before and they tried to tell me it came from the source. I believe they got a jaw dropper from rrc but IMO that is not what they sent you.

If you are referring to the pearlberry we sold to you, like we've discussed, it's possible we received a fake one and were passing along false ID'd coral. We no longer sell that coral in question as ORA Pearlberry

OP are you happy with your JD from TCK? I purchased one from them about 2 months ago. It looks like the real deal to me but I'm concerned about posts on this thread saying they might not be legit.

It doesn’t look like the same type of Acropora to me even, but I’m no expert. Either way, I would maybe get another wysiwyg frag and compare growth. Personally, I think that what you got is just as good looking, so I wouldn’t stress to much about. We have corals because of their looks, not their names anyway.

Maybe I’m wrong. Dan is a stand up guy. Could be the real deal and it’s just the way it is growing. Your tank wouldn’t cause the different growth patterns
