Ruby red xenia attached itself to my clam :(

What the heck can I do about this?! It is hard to take a pic of, but there's definitely one "arm" of the xenia attached, and it is preventing the clams mantel from extending.

Can you move the clam and scrape off the Xenia?
Could be the angle of the shot but it looks like that leather may be shading the clam.
