S-strain rotifers & Lightning maroons

I've been growing L-strain rotifers for a long time, for raising clownfish.

I have a beast of a Lightning Maroon who is 6.5" and her mate is 3". She lays a clutch every 9 days but for some reason, I can't keep the lightnings alive. I'm doing everything right, just as you would with ocellaris.. but now I'm wondering if the L-strain is too big for them and maybe they need S-strain?

The problem is.. im in hawaii and no one will ship rotifers to me (even though they are in our own oceans). I've had my L-strain before the mandates so I'm not sure how I can even get S-rotifers now.

If it's not the size of rotifers that's the issue, what could it be? Anyone here Breed lightning maroons? Which strain do I need?

Any advice on rearing them would be helpful but anyone willing to ship me some S-strain would be more than appreciated!

I actually have a pair of lightning maroons at the fish store i work at and they are laying. I am in the process of setting up a breeding operation in my room so ive been getting a lot of info on it.

So ive heard that maroons in general are a bit harder to raise as the fry start out smaller than other species of clownfish. I think trying S-strain rotifers would be the first thing you should give a go at.

I'm also curious on what kind of rotifers I should get so this kinda helped thanks. I have another pair of ocellaris that my friend is gonna lend me so im going to start with those. They are supposedly easier as they start out as bigger fry. Still very small but bigger than the maroons. I think if I just use S-strain it will be suitable for both the maroons and the ocellaris. Hopefully it doesn't turn out that ocellaris only eat L strain for some reason XD.

I have heard of Maroons being reared with just L-Strain rotifers before,* so I'd guess something else is up here.

Can you share with us info about your setup and feeding for both the parents and larvae?

I'll add this here as it may be helpful for you:

For Ocellaris clowns at least, Brachionus plicatilis (L-Strain) is the go-to species for the scientific community; I have heard of good results when using Brachionus rotundiformis (S-Strain) for days 1-5 then transitioning to L-Strain though. I raised my lighting fry same as ocellaris with a bit more often water change. Never used s- rots
