A Florida man died after contracting a flesh-eating bacterial infection while wading in a river on Saturday.
...

Konietzky's death is the latest in a string of cases in Florida involving Vibrio vulnificus. The salt water bacteria, which are related to those that cause cholera, have already afflicted 26 people in Florida this year, causing nine deaths, according to Florida Department of Health data.

I read this, the scariest part is that he died extremely quickly post exposure. It happens but rare.

There have been few few cases of this on the Texas coast over the past few years. VERY scary how fast you go from fine to dead!

I had a close call with this stuff before, Luckily (or not so luckily) it turned out to be MRSA which is also pretty bad, but the doctors had me scared about loosing my leg due to this stuff, was only after a lab result came in and told me it was in fact MRSA. Scary stuff for sure.
