Welcome, I have had my tank up for almost a year now but I figured I would make a build thread showing off my setup.

FTS to start off

Nice looking tank. How are you liking the AI Prime and 16HD? I don't have that much stuff in my tank yet, but would like to build up a nice mix reef tank. I'm debating on 2 AI Hydra 32 vs 3 AI Hydra 16s. The 3 AI Hydra 16s with mounting arms is cheaper than the 2 AI Hydra 32HDs with the AI HMS mounting hardware/setup. I'm curious to know if you're happy with your lighting setup, or do you think you need more light. Trying to decide if going the Hydra 16HD route will mean that I'll need to upgrade in the future or it will be just fine in my NUVO SR-60. Thanks for the help. Where are you in San Diego?

Thank you! I am in the Tierrasanta area. I really like the AI primes. I can't tell much of a difference between the regular HD and the 16HD. I added the 16HD a couple months after I already had the 2 regulars and I didn't notice any more growth but mainly less shadowing in the corners. The 2 32s will give you one extra puck of lights to work with, but if you have the NUVO SR-60 which I have, I'd definitely think 3 16s are easily enough coverage.

I also have 2 T5 bulbs going but I don't think it is a necessity. Plenty of tanks have a single 32 growing stuff like crazy. In the end it comes down to stability. If the water is pristine most corals will grow under just about anything. If you want to be certain you won't need more light in the future go with the 2 32s. But if you want to be 90% sure you wont need more light go with the 3 16s. The thing I also like about the 16s if you do need to upgrade, they are perfect for a frag tank or a sump or refugium.
