Just got this sailfin Tang. Currently in my qt tank with Fritz's copper safe. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed ick? Or ?? Otherwise fish is swimming, eating and breathing normally.

This is indeed ich and at what coppersafe level are you using and how are you testing level?
I see a rock in the qt tank which can absorn some of the copper product.

2.0 ppm copper, tested with Hanna checker. Yep small piece of rock going out tomorrow when I get a few PVC pieces.

Bring level up to 2.25ppm. 2.0 is where it starts to take effect but at low level. Temperature at 79 degrees and monitor ammonia level with a reliable test kit

So I've been running copper safe now for pushing two weeks. My sailfin is lively, eating well and all spots are gone, except one on his dorsal fin. I can't actually tell if it's ick or just something weird going on with his fkn. Can anyone check out my pics and help me ID. You can see the spot in question in the last two pics. As you can see from other pics he is spot free.

Thanks PXL_20251216_200925537.jpg PXL_20251216_200929480.jpg PXL_20251216_200932356.jpg PXL_20251216_200930941.jpg

Anyone?? see the spot on the very tip of his Right Pectoral fin? His body is entirely spot free from Ick. I am mantaining coppersafe levels at 2.5ppm in QT. I am going to have to try and get some magnification on this to try and get a good look.

There’s a little bit of head and lateral line (HLLE) starting up above and behind the eyes.

I can’t see the spot, but it is likely residual ich. Coppersafe is mild, but it’s slow to work. I would hold the fish at 2.25 to 2.5 for a full two weeks beyond when the last spot dropped off.

yep, I assume the HLLE is from treatment, so we'll keep feeding him good goods, and keep him fat and healthy. He eats like a pig. Do you think that spot may just be a Lymphocyte?

It could be, I just can’t really see it. Lymphocystis usually forms on the trailing edge of the fins, and tends to have an angular look to it.

Here is an article I wrote about it:
