I try to shoot for 1.025, but as long as the water level lines up somewhere in the green area nobody seems to mind. These corals are actually more resilient than one might think.

Never heard any benefits of running that low. Never. However some stores may run a lower salinity in order to prevent stress and prevent/cure ich by the hyposalinity method. But most of the time those fish are in and out and not a long term deal. I have not honestly done a ton of research on the effects, but know what I have done and what works for me. Is he/she running a fowlr or full blown reef?

Low salinity can benefit fish only tanks. If u keep corals I recommend doing some research to the area those corals live. The ocean in different areas is different salinity. I keep my tank at 35ppt some areas of the Great Barrier Reef are as high as 40ppt.

1.026 / 35 ppt using Apex reading. Fluctuates 34.8 - 35.2. Mixed tank ~25 fish & ~20 corals.

I mix Instant Ocean, 5 gallons to 1.6 pounds of salt almost exactly to 1.026. Then use ATO (1 gallon/day) & auto water exchange (2 gallons/day). I have 350 g total volume between large tank, small tank & sump (connecting both tanks).
