Looking to change salts to try something new. Thinking about aquaforest reef salt+

any reason why you want to try new salt?
I been around the block with different salts and best to pick one close to your parameters goals

I recently tried AF Reef Salt and I did not care for it. After a lot of back and forth here on R2R with some really amazing R2R members, it was determined that amino acids that are added to the AF Reef Salt mix were causing ammonia, which was leading to high nitrate. I'm sitting on two boxes of the AF Reef Salt, but I'm back to Instant Ocean Sea Salt. I don't think there's any reason to spend more on a salt mix. Good luck!

I'd personally select a different brand than Aquaforest Reef Salt +. It may be manufactured differently in different geographic locations, and different versions they sell may have different attributes, and the salt may or may not be his issue, but Katze seems to have issues with it. Since there are loads of brands to pick from, I'd personally avoid it.

Following. I run fritz red box and want something that mixes without turning my water station brown.

Red Box is their high alk mix, right? Every high alk mix salt tends to precipitate and leave a mess

If you want clean salt then NYOS, ESV, TM Pro or Classic are all great choices. TM Classic has higher alk (10dkh or so) but low calcium (380-400ppm.) ESV is around 9-9.5dkh but higher calcium than TM Classic

I went through at least 1 batch of every AF salt when I was doing my Ultimate Salt Test. I never saw any issues from any of them and ICP didn't report anything crazy from what I recall. I have 2 of the 150g boxes of AF Reef Salt I picked up a while back for like $35 a box. I will use it in my tank when my NYOS runs out without hesitation

Supposed to be high alk. Always comes out at 8 for me. Been using it for 2 years.

You either have precipitation or low salinity

Or they have horrible QC
I run 1.027 and use it once mixed clear. Every batch has been 8.0 to 8.2 alk. Its consistent at least. But I'm needing to mix 400+ gallons for my new tank and figured id switch to a clean mix salt when I'm ready to fill that tank.

Just to see what's out there. I currently use tropic marin pro reef

Hi!

All our salts are produced exclusively in Poland. Our salt in Australia, Europe, and the USA is the same salt. Additionally, you can check its parameters before purchasing by entering the batch number on our website.

Have a nice day!

Well, that’s not necessarily a plus if it might mean they all have the problem that Katz encountered. You might find it better to address the actual problem discussed, which is not a parameter problem, than give an answer that does not help.
