SCIENTIFIC NAME - Genicanthus Melanospilos
COMMON NAME - Blackspot Angelfish, Japanese Swallowtail Angelfish
SIZE - 7.1" (18 cm)
MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 100 US Gal. (379 L)
FOODS AND FEEDING - Varied diet, finely shaved fresh or frozen shrimp, frozen Brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp and frozen preparations containing Spirulina algae. Feed at least 3 times a day.
REEF COMPATIBILITY - One of the best angelfishes for the reef aquarium.
CAPTIVE CARE - Will browse on filamentous algae and diatoms growing in the aquarium, needs plenty of swim space, constantly active, acclimates well, may chase small docile planktivores, males may fight with other Genicanthus spp.. multiple females can be kept in the larger systems, however, only one male per tank.
