When there is a problem with things like hair algae and there is conflicting info on how to solve the problem.

That I do my research, ask around for help (to the people I trust), know what is for my little 16gal tank and what is not, yet every so often an employee at the LFS that has a reef tank convinces me of something I know is not true and I somehow buy into it. (On the drive home I am literally in shock with myself.) I am newer to the hobby if that was not completely obvious.
