Just came back from Punta Cana, DR. Was out on the beach on a small rock area right on the beach. Some fish visible from above water and decided to put my Samsung Note9 under the water to see what was there. A lot of life.

just realized i have to host the video and cant direct upload... never mind the video enjoy some pics.

I've been really leery about sinking my phone (note 9) into the tank. How did your phone handle the salt water?

I'd be curious to hear how the phone fared as well.

As I do some work in the industry, I can make some informed speculation - the Note 9 is a relatively new device, it doesn't look like it was submerged deeply in this instance, and is IP68. I'd guess it was just fine. If it were mine, I'd rinse it well in some freshwater afterwards.

A word of caution - the tech used to waterproof smartphones is now quite good (though it's actually water resistant), but does degrade over time. I'd be much less willing (in 2021) to insert a 2 year old Note 9 in the water than I would a 6 month old one right now, as in two years the waterproofing will likely have worn down somewhat, making it less durable for this kind of thing.

This was last week about Wednesday, Phone gave the warning of moisture detected and after i dried it of it was as normal. I took it back out into the ocean again and worked same way.
I have had Samsung Galaxy phones for some time. Ive done this with the Note 9, S8plus, Note 8, Note 7, never had any issues with the phones afterwards.
I've never really gone scuba diving with it, but i have stuck it in my previous 150 gal tank, water slides, pools, beach, ocean and always came out good.
