heres how groupthink affects prep sand rinsing

-show that live sand wet in a bag has bacteria

-then show how cloudless rinse prep removes bacteria performance from first assessment. We’ve had people oxidize test the new wet sand already and it failed, it even failed dna sequencing from aquabiomics. I too was wrong initially as I thought it was replete with filter bacteria, then someone bothered to actually test it

- show how that advice remedies issues posted in post 12

the only kind of sand you don’t pre rinse is true live sand from the ocean with animals in it that wiggle about. Nobody in post 12 had that type

Shipping and handling and production variance makes some bags super silty. Rinsing fixes it harmlessly

Blanket advice to not rinse doesn't match the ways public reefs present in threads, it's merely the view of someone who didn't get a silty bag that ruined reefing a while as post 12 shows

this thread ought to be responsible for crowd funding him the cost of three brute trashcans so he can fix the advice given here.

The pic below is my new 125 Fowlr. 5 bags live sand, none were rinsed. 1 bag of crushed coral, rinsed for about an hour. ( crushed coral is extremely silty/dirty)
Sequence: rock, sand, then add water.
24hrs after filling- crystal clear!
