Hi all - I've decided to start a saltwater tank (FOWLR, no coral) and have been lurking awhile - and learned so much.

From my research I've come up with the following and would appreciate thoughts/feedback on my plan, especially if I missed anything. We've decided to use Red Sea equipment even though its a little more expensive than others because of the app and unified ecosystem, but are willing (and want) to save money on other parts where interconnectivity or control isn't as important (like lights)

Tank: 60x18x14 from Tsunami Aquariums (112 gallon). Corner overflow box plumbed with Herbie overflow.
- Aquascaped with Caribsea Shapes and LifeRock, and Caribsea live sand
- One ReefWave 45

Sump: provided by Tsunami, 30x14x16
- Compartment 1: Red Sea ReefMat 1200 (I think the 500 would work but from what I've read the 1200 is oversized so would use less fleece and the rolls would last longer, so there's no downside)
- Compartment 2: Red Sea DC Protein Skimmer 300 (I am a little confused here because this is only 265 GPH which is less than the flow rate of everything else in the system but I also read with the ReefMat a smaller skimmer is OK because the mat is so effective?)
- Compartment 3: ReefRun G2 6000 (Also a little confused here because the specs of the 4000 seem to indicate it would be fine but from other posts and reading things online it sounds like its not? There will be a vertical lift of about 5' for the return line.) Also in this compartment will be the Red Sea ATO+ tipoff system.

Also in one compartment - I don't know which, but I know not to put it in the last one - will be two 200w titanium heaters.

Am I missing anything? Is anything over/undersized? Thank you all in advance!

Welcome to R2R!

The tank you are looking at is 18” deep and 14” high?
I think that may limit what species you can keep. Fish need open room to swim. If you are using sand and rocks, this will take the height down to 10-12” depending on how much sand/rocks you use.
I’m not discouraging you but rather point out something that may have been overlooked.

I mistyped it. The tank will be 60" long, 18" deep, and 24" high. we were considering 60x24x24 but thats a little
too large for the space we have, unfortunately.
