Sand rinse and storage

My new aquarium should be arriving in a week to 2 and should be running a week after that.
Its a lot of sand approximately 70kg for a 2 meter tank. Im thinking I rinse in smaller batches, would it be safe after the rinse to add them all to a bucket and leave them sitting there for a few weeks or a month max? While im planning on removing as much of the rise water before adding them all to the main bucket its still going to be damp. Will it cause any issues?

It should be fine. Ive stored wet used unrinsed sand for a couple months and it surprisingly didnt smell anymore death like than day 1.

Personally I wouldn't do it. Why not wait to rinse it until you're ready to use it?

I have to go through 8 bags of it which is quite a lot and have lots of time to kill. The way Im thinking about it is its one less thing to worry about once the new tank reaches. Honestly I was planning on doing one bag a day here and there when ive got free time

Nope aquaforest dry sand. It comes with a bottle of bacteria you can add, which ill do so the day I add it to the tank

In that case, listen to your dad I just wouldn’t wanna handle the sand that much. I’d want to rinse and put it in and be finished

Sand does take a ton of rinsing though. Just the sand i used for my 20g took a lot of rinsing before it came out clear. I dont blame him for wanting to do it a little at a time.

If not gonna start growing **** in it if I leave a heap of it in a bucket? Its gonna be very deep im worried about something happening to it getting moldy or something

Dad knows! My friend had to rinse a bag over 20 times. 20x7= 386 rinses
Dont wanna have to worry about that when the tank comes

In all seriousness though, im worried about very deep sandbed that's damp is gonna start a whole new unwanted ecosystem or mold if thats possible

You should honestly be fine. You can use screen type material and strain the water out and leave the bucket uncovered.
