Is there any sand sifting fish that I can put in sump with miracle mud and chaeto? Refugium is pretty big so I’d like to add a sand sifter in there but it’s miracle mud.

how big is sump? what if fishy goes up into sump drain compartment slot thingies?

Tagging along here to learn too :-)

I do have some thoughts here, I'm planning my next sump right now, but I'd really like to read some replies from others.

Good luck!

A sand sifting fish wont go too far down and disturb the lower layers of mud, but will probably end up making a bit of a mess in the later sump chambers as the miracle mud builds up there

How about hermit crabs, conchs?

conchs usually burrow into the sand so probably not the best either. Hermits will be fine as they dont really kick up much substrate

Mud filter > 25 years mature is crawling with worms and has increased in depth 1/2” in 25 years and feels spongy to the touch.
