I'm getting back into the hobby buying a 233 gallon tank. I plan to go sps & descent bioload and I prefer a sand bed. I was thinking about a DSB in the display tank, about 4".

I was going to get CaribSea Fiji Pink sand ~280lbs, this stuff: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/fiji-pink-arag-alive-live-reef-sand.html

Any thoughts? Is 280lbs enough? Tank is 60x30x30

I'd go with the Tropic Eden Reef Flakes... JMO

4" deep should do the trick, for gassing off nitrates.

If going for the Fiji pink I would go for the special grade, it’s bigger, for a sps tank the bigger grains will allow the increased flow needed without being blown around.

I use the Fiji Pink. Big enough to allow an SPS flow, small, enough to work for sand sifters.
