Alright, Ive had this sapphire skimmer in my solana for about 2 weeks and have never properly got it to adjust. The first time i plugged it in it worked perfect with no problems. but as the weeks went by, I slowly started to see less and less action. then today i looked at my tank and the skimmer was pouring clear water into the skimmate cup. The skimmer comes with a gate valve that your suppose to be able to adjust, but I havent even had any water go through the gate so adjusting it does nothing. Is something wrong here or what?

If you're seeing clear water going into the cup, it usually means that you need to open the gate so water can exit. Is anything blocking the flow out of the skimmer? New skimmers take time to break in, so you can never use how it performs on Day 1 as a measuring stick.

You should email kyle at sapphire aquatics. He has a reputation of being a helpful troubleshooter. Good luck.

The gate is to control the level of water in the body of the skimmer. I have mine set at the lowest position. So you need to make sure your water level in the back section is below that window.
