Yeah...but if you want growth and color in acros it's the only way.
My SBB Hysteria is pulling off the dissapearing frag plug trick.... 10 days the base of the plug almost gone:

My skimmer with carbon scrubber gives me some extra pH... topping out around 8.32 on my better days.

Looks like the swiss alps with those peaks and valleys :face-with-monocle: your tank shames mine tho. I swing 8.32 to lows of 8.05 - 7.98ish when scrubber media needs replaced. How the hell are you getting 8.5.
Open room, no top, lots of flow, surface agitation. It normally stays 8.0-8.5/6
