Hello fellow Reefers,

This is my first aquascape and I’ve read people saying build no more than 2/3rds up. You then have others saying it’s preference and it depends what you plan on putting up there.

Want to keep primarily softies and sps.

First pic is the way I have it right now. Second pic is what I had; felt it could use a little lift.

What’s the general consensus here? Should I bring it down a little? Keep it as is…

Thanks!

I don't think so. There are many corals that grow at the varying heights. you could even pop it out of the water for a little island. I would think a mangrove at the top of that with roots coming down would look pretty cool.

So it's unanimous, I will keep it as is.

Thanks everyone for chiming in!

Just my opinion but I have built 8 rock structures over the years. You can do much better. You have placed a few rocks in the middle... boring. No place for fish to settle in at night, not much real estate for corals. BS on not going to higher than 2/3rds. I would go get more rock and play around, and use the back wall to lean against if needed; just don't stack against it. Here's my 1 year old tank I'm still stocking: It's hollow in the back. Tank is only 29" wide. 24" tall. Big pieces help. The frag rack is 4.5 " from the top.

Love it. Only comment. If you are doing GSP, Xenia or the other fast growers, you will won’t some islands so it doesn’t take over.

You have plenty of space for those.

I’ve got mine pretty high and the snails will pop out of the water when they are snacking on the top.

I think that looks really good.

Mboley,

Love your tank!!!

Appreciate the feedback and I took it and I've added more rock which has created a couple of new crevices/tunnels as well as more real estate for corals. Thoughts??

I does look better. When you're sure it's what you want I would use epoxy (pinkish version) and glue it together. Have fun, I see a bigger tank in your future.

The new redesigned scape looks great!
