I have a bubble coral stinging my monti cap and a acro and a stylo rubbing and stinging each other. I’m seeing brown tips on these corals so I cut out what I could on the hard corals.

My issue is the monti cap and the bubble coral are encrusted onto the rock work and I can’t remove them to treat.

I’m pretty upset and worried about BJD. I dropped some iodine in the tank after I cut some of the acro away from the stylo

But I’m lost on what to do about this bubble and monti. I’m not trying to lose my collection.

Can anyone share some knowledge about my situation maybe from experience

Not gonna lie, I have no clue but I just wanted to say that tank looks amazing! Hopefully one day I can get mine to look like that. Good job dude and good luck on your issue. Wish I could help but I’m not too savvy in the hobby yet lol

NIce tank you have there and your concerns are not unwarranted. You won't typically lose corals when they touch, however there will be a clear winner and loser in the battle. I can say for certain that your stylophora will win any real estate battle it engages in. You may have to go in and physically break off corals from where they are encrusted to move them out of harms way, it is inevitable. I'd recommend running some ROX 0.8 carbon (a few spoonfuls is enough) to help keep the coral's warfare fighting toxins to a minimum, it's usually localized to the point of contact but I feel it's good practice anyways.

From what I see in my own tank full of stony corals, no the dead coral tissue does not spread to other corals after it’s been killed back by the aggressor. Once I move my corals apart the dead tips get encrusted by the ever present growth front and continue growth in a different direction. If you want, you can go in and clip off dead tips back to healthy tissue and they will skin over and grow a new tip.

Your tank looks full enough that you will start to have dieback underneath the growing colonies. And that is completely normal and not too much you could do about it, that’s how the reef is built up, new coral grows over the old.

I’d suggest keeping an eye on your random water movement and increasing it as necessary. In reality a mixed reef with stony corals is hard to maintain long term because as the stonies grow they block flow to something else downstream so you’re always trimming and moving corals as they grow. It really is a never ending thing that requires constant intervention. That’s where our frags come from lol. But again good job on yours it looks very healthy.
