Hello all

Last night I saw my African Red Biscuit Starfish perched on top of one of my button Scolys. I thought he was just trying to climb over but he was in the same position in the morning. I knocked him off and discovered the Scoly he was perched on was gone. Has anyone else seen this behavior from a starfish? Do I need to worry about my other Scolys in case he’s developed a taste for them? Any help would be appreciated. I attached a photo of the remains of the Scoly and a photo of the suspect.

I've never tried to keep a star like that, but from a quick search it looks like they definitely have a potential to be not safe for your scolys, some other corals and inverts. Here's some posts that may help:

Good luck!

Thanks for the links. Good info on there. The star has been in the tank for about a year and has always been a good citizen. I'm hoping it's a one off but I'm going to be keeping an eye on him going forward. Thanks again.
