I know this is a major no no. But I dosed this into my tank this morning Because I planned on doing CP next week. However, the angel doesnt look good and I need accelerate treatment. So do i do a complete water change? or since its been over 12 hours can I just proceed with CP as normal. Its a 20 gallon long.

Whats the proper dose for 20 gallon?

Fish in QT are

Regal Angel
Scribbled ANgel
Blonde NAso
Powder Blue Tang

Every additional chemical added is an additional risk -- whether it's worth the additional risk depends on the situation. I'd do large water changes to combat ammonia, personally but that's your call!

Well. I don't want to use prime anymore. The problem is that I added this morning.

Question is.

Should I do a water change then add cp.
or just add the cp as is.

The angel exploded with spots. So don't want to take any risk.

The best answer here is that a water change never hurts. Just go ahead and do the water change and dose the CP.

figured as much... just did a 30% WC and dosed .8 grams for my 20 gallon long. Hopefully the regal angel will start eating again. Just stopped today. So i hope i caught it in time

Is .8 enough or should I elevate giving that the spots are a lot?

Thanks humblefish.

Regarding dosage. Should I elevate the cp level ?

I currently have .8 grams in the 20 gallon long.

If yes to elevate by how much ?

For active outbreaks I use 60mg/gal so 1.2 grams if you have 20 gallons of water in there. I have used Prime with CP before with no problems to any of the fish. I know @Humblefish says 60mg/gallon for active infection as do others.

So I upped the dosage to 1.2 grams. So that is set but I noticed the regal may have eye flukes too.

So do I does general cure well now?

I was going to wait 15 days before this. But. Don't want to treat ich while flukes get out of control.

Any thoughts ?

You need to be sure you have the water well aerated, praziquantel is a huge oxygen sucker, and one medicine you should only dose with other meds if absolutely necessary.

Perhaps perform a 5 minute freshwater dip first, to confirm flukes are present and remove a large portion of the worms ahead of time.

Freshwater Dip

https://www.reef2reef.com/index.php?threads/Freshwater-Dip.248898/

Besides sucking oxygen, praziquantel actually causes the worms to spasm on the fish which can be uncomfortable, particularly in the eyes [emoji15]

^^ Agree

When flukes reach the eyes, that usually indicates a pretty heavy infestation. A FW dip is needed to clear some of the worms before using praziquantel, as that medication causes them to spasm before dropping off the fish. Too many flukes twitching on a fish simultaneously can prove fatal for the fish.

Fresh water dip done. i dont see anything like the video but i do see white flakes floating around (mental note... make sure transport container is clean before dropping fish.. unleashed a lot of crap into container!!!!) But the white stuff that was swimming around the eye is gone... so i should now treat for 2 packets of General Cure. and in 5 days do another treatment.

is this correct?

is this correct?

1 packet of GC per 10 gallons of water. Do a 25% WC, and rinse & repeat in 7 days.

hey guys... the fish do not look happy since the freshwater dip....
the flukes are definitely gone from the angel but he seems lethargic and his fins are becoming very frayed. the naso is hanging around t the bottom and they are both swimming listlessly around tank.
with CP at 1.2grams for 20 gallon. should i abort the CP for now? or is this just a result of the dip and they will recover.

my concern is that I'm going on a 5 day trip tomorrow and whatever condition the tank is in will have to stay that way for the duration.

should I abort or stay the course?

How long have the fish been in CP? Was it for a specific disease (such as velvet) or were you just prophylactically treating? The fish may be suffering side effects from the prazi or they could be struggling from being in too many different meds.

I didn't add general cure yet.

So it's just cp which I dosed at 1.2 grams.

I was treating for ich. But then observed fluke.
