Seahorse fry question!

Does anyone know how long the fry should have a light illuminating the bottom of their tank to keep them from going to the surface and swallowing air? At what age do you move their lighting over their tank?

Yes, they are a week old today! There are 20 as near as I can count and they are as cute as can be. I gave 12 away to a local aquarist. They are also a boat load of work, LOL.

Thanks, I have some pictures when they were first born but they are not the best. I will try to take some better ones now that they are a little bigger and older. The first few days they just floated around helter skelter. Sometimes 5 of them would be hitched together by tails, necks and snouts. It was comical but now they swim very well and are relentless hunters for baby brine.

I tried to take more pics but they are still too small and the photographer and camera are not the greatest either. LOL

That is a tough one! I am still not sure what the right answer for that is. Have you tried reaching out to Dan from seahorse source?

Thanks for weighing in Krista. Yes, maybe I should ask Dan or ask on fusedjaw.com. Tami, (on fusedjaw.com) has raised a lot of fry on a serious hobbyist level. Dan posts on there as well. I temporarily moved the light overhead today and although the babies moved to the top third of the bowl, they didn't seem to be in danger of swallowing air. Perhaps it isn't long before I can move it, at least when they aren't feeding.
