Today I made a seaweed holder cause I didn't feel like paying 15+ for one and sick of seaweed blowing around in my flow. It was too easy to do anyway. Just get some gutter guard which come in a roll at lowes for around 3-4$ (enough to do a ton of these holders) cut off about a 4-5 in piece and fold in half. Then use something hot (lighter, mini torch, iron) and heat the long end and one short side to melt the plastic making a pocket. The open end you add seaweed and hang it with a clip or magnet done.

I am wondering if the seaweed holder would help me with some of my beast tangs. I have converted to just buying the nori at Walmart in the Asian food area. Cheaper since I go through about 5 packs every 14 days.

gutter guard Treated with anything that would harm the fish?
It is plastic like most other things we use. I did give it a good clean with hot water but have been using three of them in different tanks for some time now with no issue including no effect on any of my numbers.

As a side note on this melt any edges so they aren't sharp and cut fish that may brush against the holder.
