Semi impulsive buy help

While I always wanted a sea apple and have done the research, I never expected to get one this soon. However my lfs had one for a low price so now I have one. Now to my question, does anyone know what micron size they need for food? Thanks

While I would still love the answer to the question, it looks like I may be good because he's sitting right under the drip line of my drip bucket and showing a feeding response. Granted that this may be something they do 24/7, I'm hoping that he's really catching something he likes and will be happy when he makes it to the tank and finds a ton of whatever floating around.

Edit: Well I did more reading and found that it only opens when it detects food which is good as it seems that it can find food in my tank. On the other end of the spectrum, apparently they only feed at night; which means the fact that he is open in my tank during lights on means he's hungry and wasn't eating enough at the lfs (not surprising though).

Now the part I'm confused on, apparently they feed on phytoplankton at night. While this isn't totally ridiculous, this doesn't add up as (from how I was taugh) phyto is usually available during the day and zoo is more prevalent at night. While it doesn't make that big of a difference as I heavily dose both anyway, it dose get me thinking...huh

From what I understand lots of plankton species migrate vertically in the day/night cycle so the typical depth might make a difference is "normal" food availability times. Plus [I think] Phyto would sink during the night and rise to the surface during the day to photosynthesize.

They will open when they detect food. If you are dosing appropriate food at night, they will open then.

If you start to see signs of these declining in health, consider removing it from the tank quickly.
A colleague of mine had one it died and polluted the tank, nuking everything.
he ended up doing a complete tare down and restart.
just a friendly heads up.

I have a client that has one, they sure are gorgeous.

Like I said on your other post. You should try liquid, or phyto paste. They require a large amount of phytoplankton
