...This was one of the few pieces that survived my last crash, though it suffered greatly and had maybe a 1/2" of viable tissue left. Many hobbyists I know would have definitely tossed it at that stage. It is now over 6" in diameter.
So I picked up a pretty nice frag of this yesterday. It's been on my list, although not high on it. Still it's a nice piece and the color is more beautiful than I'd imagined and the smooth skin is sexy.
This is an unusual montipora that a lot of pple have but my search turned up little more than photos. What does it like and not like? It has an unusual and highly variable growth form. Does anyone have any experiences to share bout how to influence the form that it takes, or the color? What makes it encrust or branch? What makes it more irregular?
Nice! Trade you Purple AND green grafting on an orange setosa would be killer! I've heard of one or the other, but not both on the same colony yet.
Now that would be epic!! Let's try it!
