...This was one of the few pieces that survived my last crash, though it suffered greatly and had maybe a 1/2" of viable tissue left. Many hobbyists I know would have definitely tossed it at that stage. It is now over 6" in diameter.

I had one that fell off the frag rack and died back to literally one polyp, kept it to see just in case. It came back! Now its 2 colonies each about 3" across.

So I picked up a pretty nice frag of this yesterday. It's been on my list, although not high on it. Still it's a nice piece and the color is more beautiful than I'd imagined and the smooth skin is sexy.

This is an unusual montipora that a lot of pple have but my search turned up little more than photos. What does it like and not like? It has an unusual and highly variable growth form. Does anyone have any experiences to share bout how to influence the form that it takes, or the color? What makes it encrust or branch? What makes it more irregular?

Well, we know that placing it on the bottom under 400W MHs seems to make it table.

Nice! Trade you :) Purple AND green grafting on an orange setosa would be killer! I've heard of one or the other, but not both on the same colony yet.
