I received an AquaMaxx 3L dosing container and have nothing else it needs to get it up and dosing. It has been sitting around in the box and I guess I might as well put it to work. I have a 1.5 year old mixed reef tank - no sump. I use a hang on back Aquamaxx 1.5 protein skimmer and a Tidal 110 filter. Change about 7 gallons of water out weekly.

I was hoping y'all could tell me if the things I picked out on Amazon would get it up and running. I'm severely limited on funds right now so I'm trying to do this on the cheap.

I could also use suggestions on what to dose. I might could just use the container and set it up as an ATO. What would you do if you were me? At first I was thinking of dosing Red Sea Reef Energy AB+ with Kalkwasser. Is that silly - I know I'm ignorant on this that's why I'm here asking.

I'm thinking of the pump below and the 3d printed housing (I have 3d printer) but I might need a power supply for this

or i could just avoid the hassle and buy this one:

This is the container I was given:

The kamoer is a a good pump, mine is 5 years old and still works perfectly. I use other kamoer products and IMO its a good quality brand.

As for a container, I just use empty water bottles.

If you want to use those Kaomer NKP pumps from amazon then at the very least you will need a 12v power supply to turn it on. You can make a simple dosing controller with an arduino microcontroller and a motor driver but that takes time, effort, and additional $$$. If funds are low then manual dosing is always an option or check with your local club to see if anyone is selling some used items.

You should dose whatever it takes to meet your needs. For example, do you know your alkalinity consumption?
Just because you can dose something, doesn't mean you have to (or even should).

If you determine you need to dose I would go with a programmable pump. They are just so much easier to use. Ive used one of these before and the price is good if you aren't opposed to Ali

Do you know if the removal of De minimis have a big impact on Ali shipments? I was thinking about shopping with them also

Sorry I don't understand the question. I had too Google De minimis but still don't understand. Apologies it's probably my 8th grade education ☺️

Thats not bad......
I bought an F1 and X1 a year or so back from Ali. It was my first time buying there but it went well and the pumps appeared to be legit just not in retail packaging. I doubt there is any useful warranty but that's speculation on my part having bought grey market items in the past.

I love AliExpress. I used to buy most of my hobby supplies there. This looks good

That’s good advice. I had a bad feeling I’d need something extra and have to tinker more. I’d want that controller I’m sure so that option is out. Not worth the trouble.
