Unfortunately, I recently had a burst hose on my GHL Doser 3 Maxi. It’s used for automatic water changes and, as it’s located in a separate room, I didn’t notice it until two days later. The result -> Everything was soaked in salt water. It couldn’t have been worse....

I opened a support ticket with GHL to sort this out, as I’d bought this pump brand new. That’s when the trouble started....

Not only was GHL very uncooperative, but now, after weeks of back-and-forth correspondence regarding the supply of two new heads for my Doser 3 Maxi, including a set of spare hoses, they’ve informed me that maintenance must be carried out every four weeks (cleaning, applying new grease and possibly replacing hoses). Personally, I find this rather excessive: a pump that’s supposed to run continuously is now expected to require the replacement of a set of hoses costing around €28 (Netherlands) several times a year. The reason GHL replaced the dosing heads? No idea – I’ve asked several times, but they couldn’t find any reason other than poor maintenance...... Mind you, this pump was bought brand new and has only been in use for 1.5 years (200ml per hour on both heads, every day).

My GHL Doser Maxi 2.2 has now been running maintenance-free for almost 2 years without a single problem....

Interpret this post however you like; my aim is simply to inform fellow owners. I was actually quite shocked by it!

1.5 years of constant 24/7 use with no maintenance as a salt water AWC unit is actually pretty good expectations.
a peristaltic doser that gets far less use is understandable why it does not exhibit any issues compared to the one used for AWC.

The doser is approx. 1,5 years old but failed after only months of service.

The AWC system was installed February 2026 and failed May 2026. I replace the hoses and these failed even quicker. Sorry for the confusion.

1,5 years of continuous use without maintenance is obviously perfectly fine and to be expected.

Gotcha. And im assuming the tubing that failed is the fixed soft tubing inside the head? Not the pickup or discharge tubing?

It’s the replaceable dosing tube inside the dosing head. That split open along 25% of the length.
