Hello. I am setting up my first QT Tank as I am back into the hobby and never had a QT tank before.

Config:
20gl Tank
Tidal 50 HOB
Heater
MarinePure Biofilter Media Spheres - Qty 10 installed in the HOB. Had them in my display tank sump for a week and then transferred to the QT tank filter chamber.

I dosed Dr Tims Bacteria and Ammonia to establish my bacteria colony.

After 3 days, my Ammonia is still slightly around 1. I does another 2 caps of Dr. Tim's a day ago and ammonia has not moved.

Do i have enough Media Spheres (10) to support a bacteria colony in 20 gallons? I assume it should not matter that they are in the filter rather than sitting in the tank. I want them there so the fish won't rub against them if they have a disease.

Any suggestions what I need to do to get my ammonia down to 0? Don't want to add a fish until I know my bacteria is established.

It takes time for bacteria to grow. Depending on how alive it was in the bottle, it can make a difference in cycle times. I dont see anything wrong with your set up. The added ammonia was more than the spheres could process in a short time.
"Time" is the key.
