I did think about that but wasn't sure of a good way to do it and I'm trying to keep the amount of equipment to a minimum so it looks nice and organized

What about having your top off water come out of the top of the volcano.

Also amazing build I will definitely be following along.

I've been thinking a lot about trying that. I think the top off water might be better then a separate pump flowing salt water out the top non stop I think I would get a lot of salt creep that way.

have you or anyone else here ever drilled dry rock?
I would think I could just use a normal concrete drill bit.

If anyone has any advice or input on the idea id appreciate it I might try to drill it tonight or tomorrow.

Awesome! So what is your plan for stocking it?

I'm still not sure I've been think about putting a bunch of rock anemones,a clownfish, and a pistol shrimp goby pair or just a clownfish with rock anemones and a few porcelain anemone crabs maybe some pom Pom crabs.

I'm open to suggestions

Goby and shrimps pair are awesome to watch, I've always had a pair in all my tanks. There fun to watch, and are always digging and building.

+1 rock flower nems! With some porcelain crabs. Maybe a squat lobster and/or little hermit crabs.

Since the top will be open, you don't want fish to jumping. A semi-aggressive fish will be more active and more comfortable in it's own domain. I would think also, maybe less likely to jump? Something like a basslet or damsel fish.

If you went with shrimp and goby, the goby will always have a spot to retreat and maybe less likely to jump? My goby always goes back to his hole. And with that in mind, would be able to add something like a pygmy wrasse(more free swimming, needs place to sleep at night) or Tail Spot Blenny, which is just full off character, imo.

Ok so here's an update. I decided to go with the pistol shrimp goby pair as well as a tail spot blenny thanks for the suggestion (reeferfox).

I added another pump so the volcano is pumping saltwater out the top all the time instead of using the ato and so far evaporation and salt creep isn't a problem. I also added an Ai prime HD for lighting.
Picture soon

Also I added the tail spot blenny and 4 red leg hermits but haven't got a picture of that yet
Probably get the pistol shrimp and goby in a few weeks

That is smart. They are pretty hard but rather be safe then sorry :p
Make sure to check out Aqua SD. They have some great rock nems!
