Setting up a fish tank my uncle custom built a few years ago. The problem is that the stand only has about 25” clearance space in the under compartment. Then once you add the sump it has 24 1/2”. The under compartment is broken into 3 sections so I’m even removing one of those walls so I’ll have to replace the supporting wall with some underlying 2x4s making the clearance even shorter. So any recommendations for skimmers?

Post pictures.

I WOULD NOT REMOVE ANY WALLS.

They are weight bearing and you may greatly reduce the stand's ability to hold weight.

I’ve conferred with like 4 different people and they all think that underlying some supports would work. I’m at work right now but I’ll get pictures later in the day.

Yes, you can remove it. But be sure to add support for what you wish to remove.

Tunze 9410, 9415, and 9430, dc version.
I run a 9410 dc in the 40 breeder sump of my 120.
Short and efficient.
Here is a pic for reference.
It is just at the top of my 16" tall 40 breeder sump.

Wow! Yea this one is perfect!
Do some research.
They are very underrated, imo.
Easiest cup to clean, anti overflow, and are a truely set and forget skimmer.
No need to turn off when feeding, working in tank, doing water changes.
I have not adjusted anything in 15 months of service.
Every 6 months take out clean put back in turn it on and it skims with no adjustment needed!

Ha Ha! No but all my major equipment is Tunze.
Skimmer
Carx
Return pump
4 powerheads
Ato
I have 2 powerheads that are over 12 years old still going strong.
They also have a 2 year warranty which is nice.
I am a, Tunze guy, if you could not tell, lol.

Awesome! I’ve liked current USA so far for their prices and controllability. The tank isn’t up yet though so let’s hope it can withstand use. Thanks a bunch for your help!

I second the tunze 9410 dc , I have a short stand also and this skimmer works great for a short skimmer. Mine is on a 150gal.
