Hey everyone. So I’m spending the next 12 days with my parents here in Florida. My wife and I took a trip to visit World Wide Corals in Orlando and one of the staff members kindly gave me a collection of small rocks (in a bag with saltwater) covered in coralline algae to seed my tank at home.
The thing is, I won’t be home to my tank in Tennessee for 12 days and want to keep this coralline alive. I intentionally left the small rocks in the van overnight to keep them warm but I think it got too warm (literally all the hitchhikers are now dead).
I’ve now removed the rocks from their original bag, placed them in a small clean jar, and filled the jar with mixed salt water. I put the lid on the jar and left it in a windowsill that receives lots of daylight.
Any advice as to how to keep it alive for the next 12 days without a proper setup?
Should I remove the jar lid to give it oxygen? Should I change out the water every couple days? I literally know nothing about coralline algae.
Thank you for any advice!
