This frag of Cornbred’s OMG acro has been growing and encrusting really well but I’ve noticed it has been taking on a deep reddish purple color on the upper area that is facing the lights. Could this be an indication of too much light?

Light intensity and spectrum play a key roll in coral health and colors so I would say your current settings are causing that coloration in your acro. I've had some acros completely change color or shades in my tank too.

higher light usually bring out the “deeper” colors.

if you search around you’ll see this specific morph of SPS does get a deep red in higher light
