My tank is 7 months old, very stable i tested my parameters weekly. No swings. My nutrients never drop below 0.. i do biweekly water changes 150G. Iv had that free birdnest frag for 7 months now. I grew it from 0 branches. Yesterday. I was checking the sides of it and it has rtn or stn. Or wharever you call it. The birdnest was a free frag not too worried about it. My worry is would rtn or stn spread to other corals like my lps garden? Or is that just an sps thingy? I have a beautiful stylo as well that white spots at the bottom if somebody can check for me if thats stn because now im anxious.

Seldom does RTN spread. If BJD, it increases the chances, I see tissue loss and can be due to several factors such as :
- Alkalinity spike
- Temperature spike
- Salinity spike
- Low dissolved oxygen
- Poor water quality related with phosphate levels up to 5 ppm
- Change in water flow
- Additions of sand
- Changes in brand of salt
- Bad test kits giving faulty results
- Levels of minor elements such as Iodine, Potassium, Strontium
- Light intensity
- Addition of new corals

Birds nest are finicky. Not a very new user friendly coral, imo.
It won't spread, put your mind at ease.
