Should I buy a Par Meter

I am in a dilemma. Since my new lights have preprogramed settings for coral, should I invest in a par meter still. The dimensions are 4feet wide 18 inches deep, and 2 feet high

I would rent one, draw a detailed map of your readings and adjust lights accordingly.
IMO par meters once effectively used will collect dust unless you buy new lights. That's an expensive paperweight.

BRS rents them. You buy a "wet tested" (used) one, then you can return it for a refund, minus a "restocking fee" (i.e. rental fee). Keep it as long as you need to, return it when you're done.

They used to offer a flat out rental, but they had to change the terminology and process for legal reasons, IIRC.

Also ask around in local reefing FB groups. Someone close to you might have one you can rent/borrow. PAR testing is a VERY important part of setting up a tank for success.

I will ask them. They ship here to Canada very weird way. Not straight to address, and have to pay a fee to a broker for lack of a better word.

Not the worst idea if you have time for it. Another option is to talk to aquarium maintenance companies in your area. I bet they have them. I always use the one from my local club which is free with $20 annual dues.

The BRS 'rental' doesn't appear to come with the wand. I'm sure that's not essential but if I'm paying the $80 restocking fee, I don't want to have to buy the wand as well (or rig some temporary solution).
