I’ve seen tanks with beautiful Green Star polyps on the back walls. I honestly really like how they look and it’s my girlfriend’s favorite coral. Currently I just let algae grow on my back wall for an all you can eat buffet for my CUC. Please give me some insight and y’all’s personal opinions!

I recently just got some new stuff today. Turns out the mystery LPS coral at my LFS is Pavona! I bought one for just 10$. I also got some 5$ zoas to start out my zoa garden. And for my CUC I got a tiny nano pincushion urchin! He’s chowing down like crazy lol. Also my Favia is doing wonderful! It has its sweepers out RN and they are absolutely insane. The free toadstool leather has been opening up more and more! And looks like it’s about done shedding.

Initially I really wanted to, and I was an experienced hobbyist. I liked it for the 1st year. Once it started to make the turn to side panels and overflow gates I knew it was going to be a problem. It was growing on the electrical cords to power heads.

Dang, I’ve read it’s easy to control by cutting chunks off of it and just peeling it off. I’m fully prepared for this and what you mentioned. I’m also worried if it would hog the nitrates!

No.

It just doesn't peel off, trust me. After I peeled it off tiny residual pieces started to grow.
dang that coral is hardy! But yeah thanks for your experience! I still really like the idea of a GSP wall but I’m still thinking about it.

I used my metal edged magnetic scraper to scrape the GSP off in a single sheet. Nothing stayed on the glass. Once it gets to plastic then I don’t know.

My one fear is the corners and silicon as I’m not sure if it’ll try to get behind the silicon.

Yes..

One aspect to consider is it gives you all. The bright green and movement you’ll need, so you can focus on other colors and form for your corals on the rocks.

Do you know anywhere where I could find some cheap GSP? My LFS doesn’t have it somehow.
Rusty,
Aquadome has some GSP. I live in extreme Southwest Austin 5 miles north of the Salt Lick just inside of Hays County. If you come out I will give you some.
Not sure what kind of clinging GSP is being talked about, mine peels off easily from the glass. When covering porus live rock it is stubborn.

Didn’t know Aquadome had some! And thanks!! I need to out there soon

That’s good! I don’t have much movement besides my toadstool leather and my favia’s sweepers lol. That’s why I’ve also been wanting some kenya trees and pulsing Xenia

Go for it! I have pulsing Xenia. When they start to get out of control, I cut em back.

For me, it’s the reef equivalent of having to trim shrubs and prune trees. Just part of process.
Personally I love fast growing corals. Pulsing Xenia is one of my favorites! I also really love cleaning and maintaining my tank

So pretty!!! Your image makes me want it more lol.
I mentioned it in another thread but I actually used it to kill off some invasive palys. Here’s the other side where I’ve seeded it in spots. Hopefully that will all be covered in a couple of months. I’m moving to a dish with gsp only tank for a while.
