hi everyone,

i recently bought 2 clownfish to put in my aquarium. they’ve been in my tank for almost 3 weeks now but recently I’ve noticed that one of them (female) is insanely hostile and aggressive to the male (smaller one). every time it’s feeding time, the female chases the male away so he doesn’t get any food and it’s gotten to the point where ive had to spot feed him with a pipette. ive also noticed new nips on my male clown’s fins, i have also seen the female chasing him around the tank and biting him. i understand that clowns do that thing to assert dominance but i genuinely feel bad for the male and feel as though the female is too agressive. when im feeding pellets the male is too scared to come to the surface to eat and is very hesitant. when he does come up for food, he does so very fast and ends up missing the pellets half the time and is just eating air. i feel really bad for my male clownfish and i know clowns can do fine on their own which is why im asking if i should rehome the female (meaning bring her back to my lfs).

This is all normal. Is there an obvious size difference between the two? You can also pull the aggressive one into an acclimation box and let the other recover and then re introduce

yeah there is an obvious size difference the agressive one is visibly larger then the male

Ah yeah normal then. If it gets bad pull the female in an acclimation box so she can see him and let him heal up and get food. Ive had success with that before
