So I heard if you keep easy corals like those you don’t need to right? But if I wanted to keep acro and stuff like that I would as they consume more?
I have quite a few and sps/ acans I only do 3 gal water changes a week 33 gal tank

Test and see if your consuming more than is being replenished then decide if you need to dose, assuming your talking about alkalinity, calcium and magnesium. Many people get by with water changes. I did for several years until I had enough coral that alk was being consumed faster than water changes could keep up with. To be honest if everything is doing well I wouldn't even consider it. It's not something to look forward to. One more thing to do. Manual or auto? More equipment with possible failures if you go doser etc. Not to mention expense.
