I am starting a new 100g build with a 40 breeder (imaginitarium) sump. I have a Marine Biosystems roller mat baffle kit with a 2 bulkhead plate on the way.

Well I need inspiration/ideas/advice. Show everyone your hard work so we can copy it!

Here’s my old 75g FW DT, converted into the sump for its replacement… I had a local glasscutter make me four baffles, then added my own glass slides/stop for a polycarbonate containment grate!

I’ve since just cut all my own glass for sump baffles/etc!

Wow! This is serious DIY. Any advice on keeping things quiet?

I haven’t had any issues with noise in my setups! The toothless weirs are likely part of that; just a laminar sheet of water falling over each! — though my cursory testing with all glass weir teeth has also yielded silent operation!

I do run a bean animal drain into that sump, with just the very tips of the drain pipes submerged in the filter sock chamber; that definitely keeps things down to the trickle of a desktop fountain while moving around 15gpm!

The noisiest parts of each system do vary, in my case; it’s the old school AC return pump humming! — I’ll finally upgrade it one of these days…
