Mine isn’t nearly as involved as your great diy atos, stands & sumps, but I like it: I siliconed a food clip to two pieces of rubble, so when I feed them nori I don’t see the clip.

Its really not once you have the basics down you can start cutting corners. That tank was painted in under an hour. I am a very impatient person so I masked off the viewing port then masked off the black pane, sprayed the red and as soon as it got tacky I hit it again. Waited for the red to tack up peeled off the mask for the black and using cardboard to avoid overspray I shot the black in 2 quick coats, peeled everything off cut white masking tape into some strips and done. Trust me it isn't perfect and could have Def used more coats and more dry time but it looks the part and holds water that's all that's important.

Simple diys like these are fantastic. My favorite diys are the ones that make you say "why didn't I think of that!"

I’ll build something wherever I can. My system is very large so sometimes commercial options are either unavailable or silly expensive.

Almost my entire system is DIY. Building is part of this hobby for me.

Marine grade aluminum stand with granite top.

75 Gallon tank converted to sump.

3D background.

Gravity plus float valve auto top off.

Algae turf scrubber fed from my skimmer outflow.

Of course the plumbing and sump lights are DIY.

The hood and LED with T5 lights.

The external bean animal overflow, both inside and out made of glass with acrylic lids.

The acrylic lids.

I'm pretty happy with it.

2 years later and still a work in progress.

My both fresh and salt water projects. freshwater stand with drawers, it is from solid wood and saltwater is common construction from 2x4 and plywood. Canopy - 100% plywood with marine grade finish.

ca1ore You have to put a huge sticker on this hmm I assume it is a skimmer that this is an aquarium equipment and your neighborhood is not in danger :D You may have a SWAT team visiting you.

The more I think about it the more clever it is because that's exactly where fish would look for food, growing in between and around rocks so this raises no red flags its natural.

I was thinking of making my own rollermat prefilter. Now I’m thinking hangon.... why use fleece at all. Thinking of getting/using a titanium mesh filter. It’s marine safe. Can be cleaned easily enough and used over and over..... rinse and repeat. It may be that easy. Doing some research
