Love this @mdbannister !

I fell in love with these shrimp years before I got into saltwater. They’re super fascinating.

I’m not sure if it’s all species of mantis shrimp, or only some, but they have 16 different chromatic receptive cells in their eyes.
We only have 3 and see 6 (does indigo really count? I love Isaac Newton but he just had a thing for the number 7.) different colors.

Not to mention the ones that can create cavacation bubbles!

They’re amazing creatures.

I want one so bad. But, I can't have 5 tanks sadly.

There are tons of smaller species that are perfectly fine to keep in reef tanks. I had three of the H. trispinosa (pictured above) in our 50g reef; they never bugged anything.

Aren't they loud? My tank is in my bedroom so that might be an issue.

I would love to have one to show the kids in my traveling tanks. Would any work in a 6g?
